 COLONOSCOPY

*What is a Colonoscope ?
A scope is introduced through the anus to visualize the large intestine and remove any detected polyps or small cancerous lesions. This procedure is called COLONOSCOPY. The simple procedure takes from 15-30 minutes.

*When do I need to start screening for colon cancer ?
It is highly recommended to start screening for colon cancer at the age of 50. Various studies have shown a high incidence of colon cancer in that age group especially those with high fat diet.

*Are all colon polyps cancerous ?
NO. However, some of these polyps show tendency for malignant transformation. A follow up plan is recommended with your physician according to your colonoscopy results.
