"It is Curable"
M rs. El Galaly never imagined that the
day would come that she would be diagnosed with cancer. "I was shocked like
never before. I felt like I was lost with no where to go".
Mrs. El Galaly, aged 50 had been having
mamographies on an annual basis for 3 years before she was diagnosed with
cancer. She was faced with the fact that she had to initially start
treatment with a mastectomy operation (breast removal) followed by 6 cycles
with chemotherapy. "I traveled to France following the mastectomy for
consultation with the professionals over there to give me their opinion on
what chemotherapy i should receive". Shortly after i returned to Egypt where
I got the same professional advice from the staff at Cairo Cure, which is
where I started my treatment".
Initially, Mrs. El Galaly hid the story
from her family. Her father had previously passed away because of cancer and
she didn't want them to panic. "Although I was generally calm through the
treatment, I have to admit to the very few moments where I lost my self
control. I connected my father's death to what I had and also I started to
cry when I knew that I was going to receive chemotherapy".
Furthermore, there were also some hard
times she faced whilst going through the chemotherapy. "It was annoying
already straight after my operation. I love swimming and it was cosmetically
irritating to wear a bathing suit. After receiving couple of chemotherapy
cycles, another major problem emerged; HAIR LOSS which was by far the
hardest part of my treatment".
Following the successful chemotherapy,
Mrs. El Galaly decided to complete her treatment by receiving radiation in
Germany. "Whether it was Cairo Cure or abroad, I felt as if I was dealing
with the same professional and co-operative staff".
Mrs. El Galaly now leads her normal life
as she always did during her treatment. She is a professional who teaches
business in several universities in Egypt and is well recognized for her
contributions in her field . She is now following up with the staff at Cairo
Cure. "As any other disease, I hate the term (terminal disease) I believe IT
IS CURABLE. I had a greater feeling when I know that I was dealing with
right people where ever I went". |
